I have personally installed thousands of feet of gutter protection. I have also replaced a ton of gutter protection, which was failing, due to sub-par products or improper installation.
I am a contractor who routinely completes projects much more complicated than installing gutter protection.
There will be no baiting and switching with sales people - then cheap labor.
I will handle the process myself, from inspection to installation.
Please consider hiring me before paying 5X the rational cost with a big corporation.
The best type of gutter protection goes under the shingles, onto the roof decking, at the top and clips on the lip of the gutter at the bottom. Any type of gutter protection which sits flat in the gutter is not as capable as other types of gutter protection. Flat gutter guards or gutter 'inserts' can actually clog your gutters quicker than having no gutter protection at all.
Gutter protection isn't guaranteed to solve every problem, but it can drastically improve most situations.
If you have been researching gutter protection, this may look familiar to you. It is a several piece patented "system" designed to sound really fancy to a vulnerable homeowner, in order to get them to spend much more than necessary on gutter protection.
This is, by leaps and bounds, the most expensive gutter protection you could have installed.
A commission-paid salesman will come out and sell you a 'system'/warranty like he's selling life insurance. After you sign up, they will send whoever they can get to go install it in a few hours.
Their subcontractors never last long, so that person will not be accountable in the future. When you have problems in the future, they will just continue to send random people out to look at it, without giving them any real incentive to fix it.
These guards are made of plastic and aluminum, so they are vulnerable to heat warping and animal chewing. If you search the internet, past the paid reviews, you will find dozens of horror stories about these.
There are a few different styles of gutter protection which could be fine in certain situations, like Gutter Helmets. These types of gutter protection keep out almost all debris, but they have another issue. The water comes down off of the roof and flows around/under, into a channel. The potential and likely issue is that the system can be overwhelmed, causing it to fail... Meaning, if it rains really hard, the water will flow straight over them, onto the ground.
If you don't mind the overflow, they do a very good job of keeping debris out of the gutters.
Going back to the issue of guard types which lay flat in the gutter...
I actually learned this one the hard way a long time ago. I was set to clean out some super full gutters and install gutter protection. I bought 300 feet of this product because I was sold on the brochure. I arrived at the jobsite and when I went to clean the gutters, I found that under 3 inches of debris, the exact same guards were already installed. They held so much debris that it appeared the gutters were overflowing, with plants growing out of them.
I beat myself up for being bad at science, took those guards back and got some that go under the shingles.
I can't think of any good reason to install these over other styles of gutter guards.
Do not waste the money on plastic gutter guards or any sort of product which goes inside the gutter. I have seen many cases where customers would have been much better off without these debris collection devices in their gutters.
The biggest issue with plastic gutter guards in the south is heat warping/sagging. If you install them according to the instructions, they will warp up and fall into the gutters within a couple years. Even if you screw them to the lip of the gutter, they will still go wonkey, look bad and allow debris to enter the gutter.
There is also the issue of rodents. Rodents love chewing plastic.
The problem with gutter inserts,
like the sponge types, is very obvious. You are purposely clogging your gutters in hopes of stopping them from clogging. After one big storm or 2 weeks into fall, you will have a debris layer, inside your gutter, on top of a sponge which is filled with small debris.
I stay in constant communication with my customers until the job is done. To get a free quote for gutter guards & gutter protection, or if you have questions or special requests, just drop me a line.
